Do I have to pay my staff for breaks?

No, staff do not have the right to get paid for breaks unless it says they do in their employment contract.

The guidance on the gov.uk website also says that workers don't have the right to take smoking breaks. People who work more than 6 hours a day have the right to one uninterrupted 20 minute rest break during their working day. Further details can be found at www.gov.uk/rest-breaks-work
